Abstract The clinical presentation and management of 24 patients treated for colovesical fistula were reviewed. It is concluded that an aggressive investigative approach in the management of patients with suspected colovesical fistula is rewarding. Cystoscopy and barium enema appear to be the most useful investigative tools. Once found the fistulae should be managed surgically. Radical excision of the sigmoid colon with primary anastomosis is the treatment of choice and is accompanied by no mortality and a very low complication rate.
