AbstractBacterial RNA virus, Qβ, has been purified in gram amounts by differential centrifugation. Final separation of the virus from host E. coli rRNA was based on the density differential in the pellet. The method provided a simplified alternative to the more conventional rate zonal or isopycnic zonal centrifugation techniques.
