AbstractMacromolecular substances are used in medicine both as materials and as reagents. In the former category polymers serve as replacements for soft tissue, as cardiovascular and orthopedic implants, and as adhesives. When employed as reagents, macromolecules interact with living tissue and play an active part in bodily repair processes.
