The brilliant results produced by the use of Staphylococcus aureus vaccine in the treatment of carbuncles is already to well known to require further discussion. The following case, however, I am sure, is of sufficient interest to warrant reporting: History. —Mr. R., aged 48, had been suffering with diabetes for three years, during which time he had lost 30 pounds and On several occasions had suffered from numbers of furuncles. In January of last year a large carbuncle appeared on the back of his neck. It was well opened and packed, but continued to discharge profusely for six weeks, with little or no sign of healing. At this time he was rererred to me for vaccine treatment. A culture was taken and the causative organism found to be Staphylococcus aureus .
