At a meeting held here about a year ago I read a paper entitled "Diphtheria," in which the subject was treated in its entirety and some reference was made to the use of antitoxin serum. The paper which I present tonight deals chiefly with antitoxin and some reference is made to diphtheria as seems to be proper or relevant to the subject. Careful observations were made during this year in the treatment of all cases occurring in my practice, and the results will be presented briefly, together with statistics of our town so far as applies to results in the treatment with and without the serum. In addition, there will be presented statistics of many of the largest cities of the United States relating to frequency of the disease, comparative mortality, mortality rates of the pre-antitoxin years as compared with the mortality of the present year.
