Abstract

Just 15 years ago, on Feb. 28, 1941, Dr. Roy D. McClure delivered the first Presidential Address before the newly organized Central Surgical Association. Speaking at the Michigan Union, in Ann Arbor. Mich., he outlined the ideas which had stimulated its formation and reviewed the objectives and ideals which guided the founders in its inauguration. The immediate and widespread acceptance of this new society and its continuing and sustained success bear testimony to the soundness of the principles upon which it was founded. Today, upon the 15th anniversary of that first meeting, it is appropriate that we who have enjoyed its many benefits should review its background of achievement and consider together the obligations which have thus been placed upon us for the future of this important Association.
