Schwannoma of the Nasal Cavity

Authors: Paul S. Norman;

Schwannoma of the Nasal Cavity

Abstract

To the Editor .— I have read with great interest the article entitled "Schwannoma of the Nasal Cavity" by Drs. Iwamura, Sugiura, and Nomura which appeared in the August 1972Archives(pp 176-177). I was intrigued to learn that only seven cases of schwannoma of the nasal cavity had been reported. I have recently seen another case which I would like to tell them about briefly. This was a 17-year-old girl who noted a right nasal obstruction and epistaxis for 1½ years prior to examination in September 1970. On examination, there was a large growth which seemed to come from the area of the middle meatus. The mass was mobile and therefore was removed with a snare. The pathology at this time showed a 2 x 5 cm mass microscopically representing a neurilemoma or schwannoma of the nose. Postoperatively because I could see more tumor in the nose in October
