Thiabendazole has been tried as a topically applied preparation against various types of body ringworm. It is an effective antifungal agent and clears ringworm lesions as rapidly as systemically administered griseofulvin. Thiabendazole's topical effectiveness is markedly enhanced by an alcoholic vehicle, but it may have a negligible effect in a polyethylene glycol vehicle.
