Abstract

İran ve Doğu Roma’nın Ermenistan üzerindeki savaşları M.S. 387’de son buldu. İki taraf arasında imzalanan anlaşma gereğince Ermenistan iki nüfuz bölgesine ayrıldı ve her iki bölgede Eşkânî padişahları hüküm sürdü. Fakat M.S. 389’da batı Ermenistan padişahı III. Arşak’ın vefat etmesinin akabinde söz konusu bölge Roma kayserî eliyle atanan yöneticiler tarafından idare edilmeye başlandı.Fakat İran’ın haraç bölgesi olan Doğu Ermenistan’da Eşkânî padişahları saltanatlarını M.S. 428’e kadar sürdürebildiler. Bu süreçte Ermeni bilginler; Ermeni uygarlığının yok oluşunu ve çöküşünü önlemek, millî adetlerin ve kültürel değerlerin korunması amacıyla (yöneticiler tarafından) teşvik edildiler. Bu doğrultuda Part şahlarının emriyle Ermeni alfabesi ve hattı kullanıma sunuldu.
