Toxicity of composition of non-metal nanoparticles in pig kidney culture cell

Abstract

The results of the study have established that the composition of iodine and sulfur nanoparticles (NPs) contains triangular particles with the size from 30 to 50 nm, circular and irregular particles with size of 60–70 nm, as well as circular and irregular aggregates of these particles ranging in size from 150 to 200 nm. Free triangular NPs having length of the side 30 nm, free irregularly shaped NPs with size from 10 to 60 nm as well as circular and irregular aggregates of these NPs sized from 150 to 200 nm have been found in the composition of selenium and iodine NPs. Threshold limit value for embryonic swine kidney cell line was 5 μg/cm3 for the composition of iodine and sulfur NPs and 0.5 μg/cm3 for the composition of selenium and iodine NPs. It has been shown that both compositions of nonmetal NPs are not toxic for white mice at the dose of 2000 mg/kg if administered orally. Nonmetal NPs show high cytotoxicity, but they are not toxic during oral administration. Relatively high cytotoxicity implies that nonmetal NPs should have high biological activity not only eukaryotic cell cultures, but also in cultures of microorganisms, while nontoxicity during oral administration implies that they should have high biocompatibility. The results of the study show that nonmetal NPs are perspective for the development of antimicrobial agents and for various applications in agriculture.

Встановлено, що композиція наночастинок (НЧ) йоду та сірки містить частинки трикутної форми розміром 30–50 нм, округлі й неправильної форми частинки розміром 60–70 нм та їх агрегати округлої і неправильної форми розміром 150–200 нм. В композиції НЧ селену та йоду виявлено поодинокі частинки трикутної форми з довжиною сторони близько 30 нм та неправильної форми розміром 10–60 нм, а також їх агрегати округлої та неправильної форми розміром 150–200 нм. Максимально допустима концентрація композиції НЧ йоду та сірки для перещеплюваної культури клітин нирки ембріона свині становить 5 мкг/см3, композиції НЧ селену та йоду — 0,5 мкг/см3. Встановлено, що обидві композиції НЧ неметалів є нетоксичними для білих мишей у концентрації 2000 мг/кг.

Установлено, что композиция наночастиц (НЧ) йода и серы содержит треугольные частицы размерами 30–50 нм, округлые и неправильной формы частицы размером 60–70 нм и их агрегаты округлой и неправильной формы размерами 150–200 нм. В композиции НЧ селена и йода выявлены отдельные частицы треугольной формы с длиной стороны около 30 нм и неправильной формы размером 10–60 нм, а также их агрегаты округлой и неправильной формы размером 150–200 нм. Максимально допустимая концентрация композиции НЧ йода и серы для перевиваемой культуры клеток почки эмбриона свиньи составляет 5 мкг/см3, композиции НЧ селена и йода — 0,5 мкг/см 3. Установлено, что обе композиции НЧ неметаллов являются нетоксичными для белых мышей в концентрации 2000 мг/кг.
