Abstract

The influence of emoxipine on kidney histology and prooxidant-antioxidant balance in blood plasma of rats with rhabdomyolysis-induced acute kidney injury was investigated in the experiment. A single administration of emoxipine under appropriate conditions caused inhibition of lipid peroxidation (reduction of Malone dialdehyde level) and intensification of the antioxidant system activity (increase of SH-groups level and glutathione peroxidase activity), as well as the restriction of kidney tissue impairment (less pronounced dystrophic changes), indicating a nephroprotective effect of this antihypoxant.
