DIGITAL TECHNOLOGIES IN THE FORMATION OF ENVIRONMENTAL AWARENESS OF FUTURE BIOLOGY TEACHERS

Abstract

The article deals with certain aspects of the use of digital technologies to form the environmental awareness of future biology teachers. The relevance of environmental education in the era of digital transformation is emphasised and it is stressed that future biology teachers play a key role in educating an environmentally conscious generation. It is determined that environmental awareness is an important component of teachers’ professional competence. The advantages of digital technologies for environmental education are analysed: increased motivation, cognitive interest, constant and free access to digital resources, and the possibility of joint projects. The challenges that hinder the effective integration of digital technologies are identified: infrastructure constraints and insufficient training. Effective digital tools that can be used to develop environmental awareness are described in detail. In particular, the possibilities of robotics for research and modelling of environmental processes, artificial intelligence for personalised learning and data analysis, as well as augmented (AR) and virtual (VR) reality for creating immersive learning environments and visualising complex environmental concepts are considered. Examples of the successful use of these technologies in environmental education, in particular AR applications and specialised digital platforms, are presented. The importance of digital technologies for organising group work and implementing joint projects, including at the international level, is emphasised, which contributes to the formation of a sense of civic responsibility and global thinking. It is concluded that digital technologies are an effective tool for developing environmental awareness, but their successful implementation requires proper teacher training and overcoming infrastructure constraints. Prospects for further research in this area are outlined.

У статті розглянуто деякі аспекти використання цифрових технологій для формування екологічної свідомості майбутніх учителів біології. Визначено, що екологічна свідомість є важливою складовою професійної компетентності вчителів. Проаналізовано переваги цифрових технологій для екологічної освіти: підвищення мотивації, пізнавального інтересу, постійний та безкоштовний доступ до цифрових ресурсів, можливість спільних проєктів. Визначено виклики, які перешкоджають ефективній інтеграції цифрових технологій: інфраструктурні обмеження та недостатня підготовка. Охарактеризовано ефективні інструменти: робототехніка, штучний інтелект, доповнена реальність. Наведено приклади їх використання.
