SUBSTANTIATION OF THE METHODOLOGY FOR EMPIRICAL RESEARCH OF FRUSTRATION TOLERANCE OF SPECIAL OPERATIONS FORCES SERVICEMEN

SUBSTANTIATION OF THE METHODOLOGY FOR EMPIRICAL RESEARCH OF FRUSTRATION TOLERANCE OF SPECIAL OPERATIONS FORCES SERVICEMEN

Abstract

Introduction. The active phase of the Russian-Ukrainian war confirmed that due to the variety of combat missions in conditions of uncertainty, significant mental and physical stress, constant risk to life, extreme conditions for performing assigned tasks, the combat activities of the personnel of the Special Operations Forces (hereinafter – SOF) can be considered potentially frustrating. The destructive effect of frustration on the effectiveness of performing assigned tasks determines the imposition of special requirements for the mental sphere of the operator, the level of his psychological readiness and, accordingly, the need to develop and implement in the course of psychological support for the preparation and performance of tasks assigned to troops (forces) the latest tools for the development of resistance to adverse factors of the combat situation (stress, fear, frustration, affect, etc.). Purpose. Substantiation of psychodiagnostic tools for studying the level of frustration tolerance of Special Operations Forces operators. Methods. In the process of work, general scientific research methods were used: analysis, synthesis, comparison and generalization. Originality. In the study of the frustration factor of professional activity of SOF operators, the following heuristic theory of frustration is of particular importance: S. Rosenzweig's heuristic theory of frustration; interpretation of frustration in the psychology of activity (V. Bodrov, M. Levitov, L. Bozhovich, B. Ananiev, F. Vasylyuk, E. Ilyin, A. Nalzhanyan); behavioral interpretation of frustration (R. Barker, L. Berkowitz); consideration of subjective reflection of frustrating influences in the field of engineering psychology (N. Zavalov, V. Ponomarenko); understanding of frustration as a socio-psychological phenomenon (D. Myers, V. Tsyba); study of frustration tolerance as a mental personality trait (N. Chizhichenko, A. Gusev, S. Lytvyn, O. Kholodova); substantiation of frustration tolerance as a professional ability to withstand adverse factors (A. Bolshakova, I. Lamash, T. Selyukova, S. Kucherenko,M. Mishina, G. Perevoshchikov); development of means of empirical research of frustration and frustration tolerance (S. Rosenzweig, G. Soldatova, N. Tarabryna, O. Khmiliar, M. Kuzmenko).Conclusion. The selected psychodiagnostic tools correspond to the research tasks of experimental psychological research. The diagnostic techniques used helped to comprehensively investigate the psychological features of the frustration tolerance of the operator of the Special Operations Forces as a professionally important quality. The results obtained by certain methods made it possible to diagnose the level of frustration tolerance of the SOF operator at four levels: optimal, favorable, critical and unfavorable. The probability of manifestation of each level depends on the individual psychological qualities, the level of professional training of the SOF operator, his combat experience, as well as the strength of the frustrator and the significance of the consequences of a frustration situation for a soldier.
