The author has made an attempt to retrospectively analyze the regulatory and legal support of the state policy of Ukraine regarding the social protection of military personnel and persons released from military service and their family members during the years of Ukraine's independence. The conducted research actualizes the issue of the future development of such a unique type of professional activity as military social work. The implementation of the concept of military social work will contribute to the creation and implementation of the necessary conditions for improving the lives of both individuals (military servicemen) and their family members and will increase their overall well-being. The conducted analysis gives reason to conclude about the fragmentary nature of the study of the issue of social protection of military personnel by scientists and the lack of a thorough comprehensive study of the specified field. It was found that the following problems were insufficiently disclosed: peculiarities and consequences of the implementation of the state policy regarding the social protection of military personnel and their family members; the process of creating appropriate conditions for servicemen to meet post-traumatic and psychological needs; treatment and rehabilitation in sanatorium-resort facilities, improvement of social and professional adaptation of servicemen and their families.

У статті проведено ретроспективний аналіз нормативно-правового забезпечення державної політики України щодо соціального захисту військовослужбовців та осіб, звільнених з військової служби, і членів їх сімей протягом років незалежності України. Дослідження актуалізує питання розвитку у майбутньому такого унікального виду професійної діяльності, як військова соціальна робота. Проведений аналіз дає підстави дійти висновку про фрагментарний характер вивчення питання соціального захисту військовослужбовців науковцями та відсутність ґрунтовного комплексного дослідження вказаної галузі. Виявлено, що недостатньо розкритими були такі проблеми: особливості та наслідки проведення державної політики щодо соціального захисту військовослужбовців та членів їх сімей; процес створення військовослужбовцям належних умов для задоволення посттравматичних та психологічних потреб; лікування і оздоровлення в санаторно-курортних закладах, удосконалення соціально-професійної адаптації військовослужбовців та їх сімей.
