REVIEW OF THE MODERN REGULATIONS AND METHODS FOR THE PROGRESSIVE COLLAPSE RESISTANCE OF A MULTI-STOREY STEEL FRAMES

Abstract

In а article the requirements of modern normative documents for the calculation of stability against the progressive collapse of multistory steel frames are analyzed. Measures to ensure the multi-storey buildings survivability with a steel frame are considered. A comparison has been made with previous Ukrainian norms. The requirements for calculations for the survivability of different consequences classes in the new Ukrainian norms are analyzed. The comparison of the Ukrainian and foreign standards requirements shows the differences in measures to ensure a single survivability for multi-storey steel frames in Ukrainian and foreign normative documents. The design strategies for multi-storey buildings according to European norms are analyzed, depending on the building consequences class. The direct and indirect designs of multi-storey buildings are considered for the reduction of the progressive collapse possibility according to US norms. The analysis of measures to ensure the survivability of multi-storey buildings with a steel frames with UK normative documents has been carried out. The new Ukrainian normative documents requirements for of the CC3 consequences class buildings design for a progressive collapse caused by fire as a concrete factor is analyzed. Requirements and measures to ensure the survivability of multi-storey steel frames during a fire are analyzed. The fire is analyzed as a specific factor, which can lead to a progressive collapse. The factors for the simulation of the fire in the multi-storey steel frames design for survivability during a fire are: parametric-temperature dependencies, thickness, type of fire protection and elements that can be exposed to fire. The future researches tasks for calculation of multistory buildings with a steel frame for vitality at a fire are determined.
