The article continued the cycle of studies on the phraseological richness of the Ukrainian language of the 18thcentury. Semantic content and functional features of the phraseological unit of быти у ручки, revealing a tendency towardsgrammatical, word-forming and positional variability based on the material of the diary notes of M. Khanenko, Ensign General(Khorunzhy), were analyzed. Researchers of the history of diplomacy proved that the Muscovites borrowed the ceremony of kissing the tsar’s hand from the Tatars and Asians, whom they were dependent for a long time. M. Khanenko used the phrase-ology 44 times only in descriptions of events connected with business trips to moskovia, which already proved that both the ceremony itself and its nomination were not characteristic of the Ukrainian mentality. In order to find out the reasons for thenon-assimilation of this stable combination of words in the Ukrainian language, written records of other genres were involved,in particular, chronicles that testified to the functioning of the synonymous correspondence цѣловати руку, which, although showed less expressiveness, but had a broader semantic structure. The polarity of the participants of the ceremony was present-ed by the phraseological unit of жаловати къ ручки. The spread of the phraseological unit in the Ukrainian territories was proved by its local – Eastern Polissya, chrono-logical – the 18th century and genre – mostly diary notes – character. The stable combination of words was also evidenced in the monuments of the Polish language of the 17th century in the descriptions of events connected with the appointment of therepresentatives of diplomatic missions by the moscow tsar. This proved the fact that the spread of the phraseological unit tookplace from moskovia, which, fallen to the periphery of the lexical-and-phraseological system of the Ukrainian language, due toa number of intra- and extra-lingual factors, remained in it as a narrowly chronological exoticism like the attribute of a foreignculture and mentality.

Стаття продовжує цикл студій про фразеологічне багатство української мови ХVІІІ ст. На матеріалі щоденникових записів генерального хорунжого М. Ханенка проаналізовано семантичне наповнення та функційні осо-бливості фразеологізму быти у ручки, що виявляє тенденцію до граматичної, словотвірної та позиційної варіантності. Дослідники історії дипломатії доводять, що московити церемоніал цілувати руку цареві запозичили в татар та азіатів, від яких тривалий час були залежні. М. Ханенко вжив фразеологізм 44 рази тільки в описах подій, пов’язаних із ділови-ми поїздками до московії, що вже засвідчує невластивість українській ментальності як власне церемоніалу, так і його номінації. Для з’ясування причин незасвоєння українською мовою цього стійкого сполучення слів залучено писемніпам’ятки інших жанрів, зокрема літописи, що засвідчили функціювання синонімічного відповідника цѣловати руку,який хоч і виявляє меншу експресивність, проте має ширшу семантичну структуру. Полярність учасників церемоніалурепрезентує фразеологізм жаловати къ ручки.Поширення фразеологізму на українських теренах доводить його локальний – Східне Полісся, хронологічний –ХVІІІ ст. та жанровий – переважно щоденникові записи – характер. Стійке сполучення слів засвідчене і в пам’яткахпольської мови ХVІІ ст. в описах подій, що стосуються прийому представників дипломатичних місій московським царем. Це доводить, що саме з московії відбувалося поширення фразеологізму, який, потрапивши на периферію лек-сико-фразеологічної системи української мови, через низку інтра- та екстралінгвальних чинників залишився в ній вузькохронологічним екзотизмом як атрибут чужої культури та ментальності.
