Abstract

The main approaches to the definition of syntactic status and classification for vocative sentences in modern linguistics are summarized in the article. The principles of their qualification as composite vocative sentences, composite nominative sentences, non-dismembered sentences and quasi-sentences are characterized. Correlation is found between the common form of address, expressed by vocative case in a sentence, and a vocative sentence. The author’s stance on the status of this specific syntactic unit is represented.
