The article is devoted to the study of the role of color as a component of the poetic style of Serhiy Zhadan. The peculiarities and functional loading of color-lexemes, which are inextricably linked with the plot of the work, are investigated, because the color reflects the author’s perception of the world and has an important ideological load and a powerful emotional influence on the reader. The lexicon on the marking of colors attracts attention due to its semantic richness, the activity of use, the diversity of sources of origin.The object of the research is the novel «The Boarding School» by Serhiy Zhadan.The subject of the research – lexemes on the designation of color, removed by a continuous sampling from the aforementioned novel.The following methods are used to solve the tasks of the research: descriptive, method of component analysis, method of functional-stylistic analysis.We investigated the role played by color in the system of individual style of Serhiy Zhadan, and also established the peculiarities of the symbolic use of color. In the novel most often appear black and white colors – achromatic, which differ from each other only in brightness. Here also can be counted all the intermediate between them colors of gray. The author places a lot of space on the description of the terrain, the sky, people, and the black color accompanies the protagonist all the time. It is proved that the black and white colors in the novel by Serhiy Zhadan appear in pairs, complement each other. Both the white and the black colors in the novel «The Boarding School» are the colors of sorrow, war, devastation, suffering, pain, fear, hopelessness.An important feature of the writer in the use of colors is the contrast, which is especially noticeable. The purpose of the creating of images in artistic speech influences the use of color-names as components of semantic-associative oppositions: white – black.The red color in the «Boarding School» by Zhadan does not have a strong emotional charge of joy, holiday, celebration, irreducibility, strangeness, fabulousness. Here the red color symbolizes danger (variant of blood), it is also the color of hell, fire. The protagonist had to pass many circles of hell.The obtained results allow to determine the role of color-lexemes, to reveal the main tendencies of the color picture of the world of works by Serhiy Zhadan. Language material can be used in teaching sections of lexicology and stylistics.

Статья посвящена изучению роли цвета как составной поэтического стиля Сергея Жадана в романе «Интернат». Исследовано особенности и функциональное наполнение цветоназваний, которые переплетены с сюжетом произведения потому, что цвет отражает восприятие автором мира, имеет особенное идейное наполнение и сильное эмоциональное влияние на читателя.

Стаття присвячена вивченню ролі кольору як складника поетичного стилю Сергія Жадана у романі «Інтернат». Досліджено особливості та функційне навантаження барволексем, що нерозривно пов’язані з сюжетом твору, адже колір віддзеркалює сприйняття автором світу і має важливе ідейне навантаження та потужний емоційний вплив на читача.
