The article analyzes the historical and philosophical works of the historian and pedagogue A. Hotalov-Hotlib (1866–1960) from the 1920s to the 1940s, dedicated to the study of the history and philosophy of pedagogy in the 19th and early 20th centuries. Their creative, original character is shown and their significance for the history of philosophy and culture of the second quarter of the 20th century is emphasized. On the example of the analysis of the historical-philosophical heritage of A. Hotalov-Hotlib, the process of the development of philosophy in the Odesa professional university and academic environment of the specified period is considered. The features of the scientist's approaches to philosophical issues are revealed, and the role and significance of his historical and philosophical ideas for modern philosophical thought are clarified. The thesis about the expediency of an objective consideration of the philosophical position of A. Hotalov-Hotlib in the context of the conditions of philosophizing in the USSR in the period of the 1920th – 1940th is substantiated. The article indicates that the appeal to the philosophical heritage of A. Hotalov-Hotlib is conditioned historical and philosophical context of analysis and research. In accordance with it, an objective analysis of the views of A. Hotalov-Hotlib on the philosophy of pedagogy of Western European thinkers, the relationship between dialectics, logic and the theory of cognition, activity, Marxism, Marxist-Leninist philosophy, worldview, culture, socio-philosophical problems, history was carried out philosophical thought. The historical-philosophical concept of A. Hotalov-Hotlib was studied from the standpoint of philosophical reflection and self-reflection of the Soviet scientist, the prospects and relevance of the philosophical position of the domestic scientist in the Soviet and modern conditions of philosophizing in the context of the development of world philosophical thought were analyzed.

У статті аналізуються історико-філософські праці історика та педагога А. Г. Готалова-Готліба (1866–1960) періоду 1920-х–1940-х рр., присвячені дослідженню історії та філософії педагогіки ХІХ – початку ХХ ст. Показуються їхній творчий, оригінальний, самобутній характер та підкреслюється їхнє значення для історії філософії та культури другої чверті ХХ ст. На прикладі аналізу історико-філософської спадщини А. Г. Готалова-Готліба розглядається процес розвитку філософії в одеському професійному університетському та академічному середовищі зазначеного періоду. Виявлено особливості підходів до питань філософії науковцем та з’ясовано роль і значення його історико-філософських ідей для сучасної філософської думки.
