The article examines how the mechanisms of semantic memory work through self-identification. In the course of the work, an experiment was conducted, consisting of three stages, in which the informants wrote a text about themselves and after a while reproduced it in different formats (oral and written). Common and different patterns of memorization and forgetting of information were identified in 10 informants aged 20-65 years, the influence of biological and social factors on the work of semantic memory was analyzed.
