
В работе предпринимается попытка сопоставительного анализа метафоры романа С. Моэма «The Moon and Sixpence» и ее перевода на русский язык, выполненного Н.С. Ман. Рассуждения авторов основаны на положениях ведущих ученых в сфере теории перевода. Авторы применяют их для описания переводческих решений и выявляют специфику перевода метафоры. Результаты могут найти применение в разработке заданий для практического перевода как наглядный материал переводческих трансформаций.
The paper attempts to analyze the metaphor of “The Moon and Sixpence” and its translation into Russian by N. S. Man. The authors' reasoning is based on the ideas of leading scholars in the field of translation theory. The authors apply them to describe translation solutions and reveal the specifics of metaphor translation. The results can find application as visual examples of translation tools, and may be used in developing assignments for practical translation.
