Abstract

In the context of the COVID-19 pandemic, higher education in Russia during 2020 was almost universally transferred to distance learning, what revealed a number of features associated with teaching practices in a digital environment, including in an intergenerational perspective. The barriers to mediated communication necessitated this study on the basis of a survey of 54 students of the Department of Journalism of the UrFU. The subject of research interest was the clarification of the conditions for effective web communication in the educational process. The results showed that the effectiveness of the teacher’s communication with students depends, among other things, on the level of proficiency in the elements of screen culture inherent in TV presenters and video bloggers.
