ZOONYMS IN FICTION LITERATURE: DERIVATIONAL AND LINGUISTIC ASPECTS (BASED ON A STORY BY GEORGE ORWELL “ANIMAL FARM”)

Abstract

The article discusses various ways of conveying zoonyms in the translation process. Zoonyms are an important elements of language and often carry meanings that are an integral part of the cultural context. The significance of cultural awareness among translators is emphasized. The study contributes to the practice of translating animal names and may enhance the socio-cultural awareness of translator in this topic, taking into account both lexical and socio-cultural aspects of translation.

В работе анализируются способы передачи зоонимов при переводе. Имена животных являются важным элементом языка и культуры. Обращается внимание на необходимость культурной осведомленности переводчика. Статья вносит определенный вклад в практику перевода имен животных и может способствовать социокультурной осведомленности переводчиков в этой теме, с учетом лексических и социокультурных аспектов перевода.
