Abstract

The influence of the symbolic power of the narrative of cultural autarky in Russian public opinion is studied in the theoretical language of the Yale School of Cultural Sociology. The influence of this narrative is analyzed on the materials of sociological studies of the attitude of Russians to the adoption of a number of laws and political decisions that caused sharp discussions. It is concluded that the symbolic power of the official narrative, on the one hand, is quite extensive (the majority of Russians support most decisions), on the other hand, has a rather precarious position (with the weakening of the information pressure of the Russian state media, public support for decisions decreases).
