Abstract

The present article investigates the nature of weather records in the only such work of weather character in the literary heritage of Prince Simeon Ivanovich Shakhovskоy – the so-called “Home Notes”. In their traditional form, these records in a number of cases contain brief original remarks about events in the personal life of their author, from which one can draw a number of unobvious conclusions about the nature and purpose of the entire document. Finally, a number of silences in the “Home notes” make this document one of the most curious examples of early Russian memoir literature.
