Abstract

This study proposes a methodology to assess the impact of earthquakes on chimneys in conjunction with a risk management approach. The degree of damage is categorized by defining damage indicators. The Incremental Dynamic Analysis (IDA) operational methodology for analyzing the seismic impact on the structure in terms of parametric Peak Ground Acceleration (PGA) is briefly described. Risk assessment consists of analyzing the probability of seismic effects and their impact on the building structure. The risk management system aims to prevent negative impacts and provides preventive measures in the form of three risk level groups (green, yellow and red).
