This article is based on the results of three years of research on a sample of about 1000 students of various specialties. Here is presented the relationship of psychological predictors (motivation, intelligence and a number of other personal characteristics) with the success of online learning. The higher the intelligence, the easier it is to learn in a remote format. Excellent students of online courses unexpectedly demonstrated a low level of educational motivation with consistently high levels of responsibility. In general, a successful student is successful in any training format.
