Abstract

The article analyzes the representation of Yugoslavia in the Soviet press in the second half of the 1960s and the public perception of this country. In the 1960s, the relations between countries of the Socialist bloc were strained and were aggravated by the Czech crisis, Soviet-Chinese conflict and so on. The analysis uses materials of the national and regional press (‘Pravda’, ‘Literaturnaya gazeta’, ‘Sovetskaya Rossiya’, ‘Trud’, ‘Uralsky rabochy’, ‘Na smenu!’) as well as other archival materials such as district committees’ notes, certificates and briefing notes.
