We report a case of a sixty five years old male patient, who was operated of a tumor in the floor of the mouth with a histopatological diagnosis of spindle cell carcinoma. A part of the biopsy was processed by conventional transmission electron microscopy methods. Two cell components were found: Carcinomatous and sarcomatous. The first one was formed by epithelial cells and the second one by cells similar to smooth muscle. These results suggest that this tumor has ultrastructural evidences that its sarcomatous component perhaps is not originated in the carcinomatous one.
