Abstract

The basis of the analysis consists of observations, interviews and production data. With support from the Theory of Constraints (TOC) and Lean Principles, the most significant limitations in the production flow were identified and analyzed. The results show that the palletizing machine is the main constraint in the process and is therefore the primary bottleneck. The limitation is caused by technical deficiencies, limited buffer capacity, manual handling of certain materials and insufficient coordination of resources. By systematically applying TOC’ five-step model actions were identified to improve the machines utilization rate and reduce unnecessary downtime. The study proposes short-term improvements such as layout adjustments and clearer material flows as well as long-term solutions involving increased automation and investment in new equipment.
