El cribado ginecológico en España según la encuesta nacional de salud. Situación actual y evolución

Abstract

El cáncer de mama y cuello uterino constituye una de las principales causas de mortalidad por cáncer en las mujeres. En comparación con los países vecinos, España es uno de los países con menores tasas de mortalidad en Europa. En nuestro país, existe un programa de cribado de cáncer de mama basado en la realización de controles bianuales de mamografía a mujeres con edades comprendidas entre los 50 y69 años, incluyendo a población por encima de los 40 años si poseen algún factor de riesgo asociado. La alta tasa de participación en los programas de cribado y la mejora en los métodos diagnósticos y terapéuticos, parecen explicar la baja tasa de mortalidad por este tipo de tumor en España. Respecto al cáncer de cuello uterino, España también forma parte de los países con menor tasa de mortalidad existiendo, asimismo, un programa de detección de precoz constituidos por la realización de citologías cervicales en población con edades entre los 25 y 65 años...
