Give Patrons What They Want: Nutzerbestimmte Bestandsentwicklung in der SLUB Dresden

Abstract

Bibliotheken sind zur Benutzung bestimmt – das ist ihr ureigener Zweck. Andernfalls bleiben sie Sammlungen toter Bestände, die sich vielleicht noch zur Staffage eignen, im eigentlichen Sinn jedoch nicht wirksam werden. Die Benutzung einer Bibliothek ist heute allerdings ein in mehrfacher Hinsicht interaktiver Prozess. Als Wissensvermittler haben Bibliothekare zu allen Zeiten danach getrachtet, die Wünsche ihres Klientels zu erfüllen, und sich dabei je nach eigener Veranlagung als „Schatzkämmerer oder Futterknecht“ (Gottfried Rost) verstanden. Internet und Digitale Revolution ermöglichen uns inzwischen nicht nur den unmittelbaren, ortsunabhängigen Zugriff auf Bibliotheksbestände, sondern auch die direkte Interaktion mit diesen Medien wie auch untereinander. Die unter dem Lemma „Social Media“ zusammengefassten vielfältigen Plattformen zur Interaktion, Kollaboration und Partizipation eröffnen der Wissensvermittlung völlig neue Dimensionen.
