There is a need for simple, accurate and non-invasive methods for assessing body composition, such as bioelectrical impedance analysis BIA. 282 patients with chronic liver pathology were examined. 75 patients with chronic viral hepatitis HVC group, 96 patients with hepatic steatosis SH group, 111 patients with liver cirrhosis LC group. BIA indicators: BMI, percentage of body fat PBF, indicator of the proportion of visceral fat PVF and total cholesterol, HDL, LDL and triglycerides TG in serum were determined. BMI in the SH group - 30.29plusmn;0.50, in the HVC group - 28.13plusmn;0.65, in the LC group - 22.69plusmn;0.16 kg/msup2;. PBF: 36.02plusmn;1.06 SH group, 34.16plusmn;1.33 HVC group, 22.90plusmn;0.85% LC group. LDL: 3.73plusmn;0.13 SH group, 3.02plusmn;0.14 HVC group, 2.35plusmn;0.15 mmol/l LC group. TG: 1.87plusmn;0.11 SH group, 1.48plusmn;0.22 HVC group, 0.80plusmn;0.04 mmol/l LC group. The highest rates of both biochemical and BIA are observed in the SH group, and the lowest in the LC group. To study lipid metabolism of patients with chronic liver disease BIA can be recommended.

| selected citations These citations are derived from selected sources. This is an alternative to the "Influence" indicator, which also reflects the overall/total impact of an article in the research community at large, based on the underlying citation network (diachronically). | 0 | |
| popularity This indicator reflects the "current" impact/attention (the "hype") of an article in the research community at large, based on the underlying citation network. | Average | |
| influence This indicator reflects the overall/total impact of an article in the research community at large, based on the underlying citation network (diachronically). | Average | |
| impulse This indicator reflects the initial momentum of an article directly after its publication, based on the underlying citation network. | Average |
