
Suicide is still an enormous global mental health problem. Even though suicide rates are sinking in the last years, especially in low- and middle-income countries. One probable conclusion is that suicide prevention campaigns work! The presentation will cover the following topics: popular and persistent myths about suicide, a discussion around the question if it is possible to reliably predict suicide and suicide attempts, how to evaluate and manage a suicidal patient and possible pharmacological interventions.
