Abstract

Reducing errors and adverse events associated with healthcare and guaranteeing high-quality care for patients must be considered the number one priority in any medical institution. The results of the correlations of patient safety culture factors that reflects the process of voluntary reflect events reporting with the degree of patient safety in neurosurgical departments in the Republic of Moldova are presented in the study. An international questionnaire developed in the USA and implemented in 107 countries was used. Questionnaires of 345 respondents collected in 6 hospitals were processed. The results of the influence of 12 variables of patient safety culture on the degree of patient safety are presented. The determining factors of the patient safety culture that positively or negatively influence the perception of the degree of patient safety in the hospital service were elucidated. The implementation of a system for reporting adverse events associated with medical care and the development of a culture of learning from errors would favourably influence patient safety.
