Abstract

Затронуты история и обстоятельства вхождения Туркестанского края в состав Российской империи. Территориальное расширение интерпретируется как объективный и закономерный этап становления государств. Показаны причины российского продвижения в центрально-азиатском направлении. В условиях соперничества Российской и Британской империй реальность сохранения туранскими ханствами самостоятельности представлялась гипотетической. В основе текста – дореволюционные источники.
