Abstract

В статье представлены результаты экспериментального исследования одного из наиболее сложных типов окказионального использования английских фразеологизмов-эвфемизмов – расширенной метафоры. Дается краткая история экспериментального изучения фразеологических единиц отечественными и зарубежными лингвистами, выделяются характерные особенности фразеологизмов-эвфемизмов. Описываются дизайн, гипотеза, цель проведенного комплексного эксперимента. На основе полученных в ходе эксперимента данных определяются основные требования для успешного использования расширенной метафоры не носителями языка.
