Under the influence of Russian propaganda (serials, literature, television programs), a certain image has formed in the minds of the Russian people - a stereotype of Latin American culture. As a rule, this conceptual image includes hot Latin machos and passionate Latin girls. And they are always ready to fight for the freedom and independence of their country. Any stereotype is always exaggerated and gives a rather one-sided impression of the people. Of course, people here are more temperamental than in Europe or Russia; they do care about the fate of their homeland, but the times when freedom had to be fought for have passed by now. The article makes an attempt to single out some of the characteristic features of Ecuadorian mentality, and, with the help of an associative experiment, to compare their vision of the world with the worldview of Spaniards and North Americans. The Spaniards and North Americans have not been chosen by chance, because Ecuador is a former Spanish colony, and the United States is geographically close to Ecuador. In this regard, American culture has a great influence on the country, and now, in the era of globalization, Anglo-Saxon culture expands to the neighboring countries through new concepts. An associative experiment has been conducted in order to understand which image of the world is closer to the Ecuadorians: the North American one, due to the territorial proximity, or the Spanish one, stemming from the unity of the language.
В данной статье рассматриваются некоторые характерные особенности менталитета жителей Эквадора и при помощи ассоциативного эксперимента сравнивается их образ видения мира с образом мира испанцев и американцев.
