The determination of thickness and uniformity are very important tests destinated to evaluate the protective efficiency of a metallic coating. The determination of thickness is based on the anodic dissolution to a constant current density and on the determination of the time which passes to the moment when a potential variation is obtained. A general system has been devised which permits to establish the necessary conditions in the determination of the thickness of the film obtained by a coulombimetric technique . Uniformity tests have been done by means of a chemical va- loration of the dissolved ion, coming from the metal, after the application of an anodic current to the protective coating.
