STATE FORMATION, INTERNATIONAL INSERTION AND TERRITORIAL RECONFIGURATIONS

Abstract

Neste artigo examinam-se a formação do Estado Angolano, a caraterização histórico-geográfica da Angola e sua inserção no moderno sistema-mundo. O artigo recorta a região litorânea de Benguela para destacar as transformações produtivas no território com a penetração do capital e as respostas do Estado. A pesquisa bibliográfica e a análise quantitativo-qualitativa dos fenómenos implicados pelas modificações na atividade produtiva constituem sua base metodológica. O objetivo é examinar a formação e a inserção de Angola na economia-mundo capitalista a partir das contradições do desenvolvimento da região de Benguela. Daí dividir-se o artigo em quatro secções principais, além da introdução: a caraterização histórico-geográfica da Angola; a formação do Estado, a luta de emancipação e a conquista da independência; a inserção da economia angolana na economia-mundo capitalista; e as reconfigurações territoriais da região de Benguela. O artigo finaliza com as considerações finais. Abstract: This article examines the formation of the Angolan state, the historical-geographical characterization of Angola and its insertion into the modern world-system. The article focuses on the coastal region of Benguela to highlight the productive transformations in the territory with the penetration of capital and the responses of the state. Bibliographical research and quantitative-qualitative analysis of the phenomena implied by the modifications in productive activity constitute its methodological basis. The objective is to examine the formation and insertion of Angola in the capitalist world-economy from the point of view of the contradictions of development in the Benguela region. The article is divided into four main sections, besides the introduction: the historical-geographical characterization of Angola; the formation of the state, the struggle for emancipation and the conquest of independence; the insertion of the Angolan economy in the capitalist world-economy; and the territorial reconfigurations of the Benguela region. The article concludes with final considerations.

Este artículo examina la formación del Estado angoleño, la caracterización histórico-geográfica de Angola y su inserción en el sistema-mundo moderno. El artículo se centra en la región costera de Benguela para destacar las transformaciones productivas del territorio con la penetración del capital y las respuestas del Estado. La investigación bibliográfica y el análisis cuantitativo-cualitativo de los fenómenos que implican las modificaciones en la actividad productiva constituyen su base metodológica. El objetivo es examinar la formación e inserción de Angola en la economía mundial capitalista desde el punto de vista de las contradicciones del desarrollo en la región de Benguela. El artículo se divide en cuatro partes principales, además de la introducción: la caracterización histórico-geográfica de Angola; la formación del Estado, la lucha por la emancipación y la conquista de la independencia; la inserción de la economía angoleña en la economía-mundo capitalista; y las reconfiguraciones territoriales de la región de Benguela. El artículo concluye con consideraciones finales.
