Abstract

En tanto sujeto humano, el adulto mayor se va constituyendo en el inter-juego de factores que conforman la trama vincular y social. Es desde esta interacción social, activa y multidireccional, que el sujeto va construyendo su propio modelo de relación con el mundo. De tal forma, la historia de cada persona, asumirá distintos matices en función de la diversidad de experiencias, interacciones y también de su género. Cabe destacar que hombres y mujeres no son iguales. Uno de los aspectos que diferencian a estos dos grupos es la cantidad poblacional a medida que envejecen. El aumento de la población femenina, es una característica cada vez más presente en la actualidad. Así este grupo va adquiriendo mayor importancia social y demográfica, y por ello es que se advierte un especial interés en conocer acerca de su bienestar, de su forma de transitar esta etapa de la vida, de las ideas, inquietudes, preocupaciones y percepciones que al respecto tienen. Diversas áreas del conocimiento (medicina, psicología, sociología, etc.) sostienen que aquellas mujeres mayores cuya participación social y familiar es más activa, presentan mejoras en su envejecimiento y por ende en su calidad de vida. Por ello el interés central de éste proyecto radica en conocer qué aspectos de dicha participación influyen positivamente permitiendo un proceso de envejecimiento más exitoso.
