Sindicalismo y trabajo docente. Temas en debate

Abstract

Teacher unionism emerged as a field of study in the 1980s, although there are some scattered works prepared previously. Its appearance was closely related to the emergence, at that juncture, of problems related to the changes that were operating in the teaching work process and in the social position of educators. Also with the reconfiguration of their union organizations, which gained weight in the definition of educational policies and increased their presence in the collective movements that sought to affirm citizen rights in the processes of democratic transition. At the same time, in some of the countries that had the greatest tradition of teaching unions, the democratization of university environments gave rise to the theoretical debate around Marxism and other perspectives of social analysis that contributed to establishing organizations as an object of academic study teacher unions.
