Abstract

Observation of contact electrification of power cable samples is made. It is revealed that the contact potential difference and the capacity formed under separation of free charges on the surfaces of the contacting materials depend on cable design, applied materials, and inspection schemes. Time series of capacity drift and dielectric loss tangent caused by instability of triboelectric charging of the contacting surfaces are presented.
