Abstract

The article presents the analysis of the countryside as a national spatial image in the Russian literature, reveals the mentality of dependence on the space in which people live. In the terms of L.N. Tolstoy"s oeuvre the author considers such national traits of character as search for absolute good, relation with the patrimonial nest, personal integrity, humility, inability to organize the personal space and personal life and etc.
