Abstract

The paper is devoted to the analysis of the retroprognosis as political communication genre. The role of the retroprognosis among other methods of the alternative past modelling is determined: cliometrics, alternative history, counterfactual history. The differences between the retroprognosis and the normative prognosis are described the latter being studied in the framework of the new political discourse study direction linguistic political prognostics. Linguistics political prognostics presupposes not only the modelling of the future but also the analysis of the conventional counterfactual scenarios both on the theoretical and evidence-based level. It is in the genre of the retroprognosis that the axiological priorities of the author specify the possible counterfactual scenario of the events. The retroprognosis differs from the normative prognosis as far as the construction model goes. The genre space of the retroprognosis is studied. The retroprognosis in the framework of the political discourse is represented by the following genre forms: fictional interview, fictional story and depending on the form of the existence it can have a printed format and the video recording format. The author comes to the conclusion that the genres of the political communication are determined by the modern social and political processes and that the retroprognosis may be viewed as the past modelling instrument.
