Abstract

Pleural effusions is a common complication of pneumonia. As considerable proportion of patients become disabled and lose their ability to work, this problem becomes a social one. We analyzed 99 cases of patients with pleural effusions in our work. The patients were admitted to the department of Thoracic Surgery of Vitebsk regional hospital from November, 2008 to July, 2011. All patients were divided into three groups: the first group those who had had the acute pleural effusions, the second group those who had had the subacute pleural effusions, the third group those who had had the chronic pleural empyema. This study was undertaken to determine the role of the changes of blood analysis and their clinical significance. We showed essential diagnostic findings in different stages of pleural empyema. The purpose of the present study was evaluate the laboratory methods patient's investigations and their clinical and practical significance for a treatment.
