Abstract

Mutual contacts of languages of nations are a natural phenomenon in multiethnic space. Languages interact and mutually enrich each other by borrowings in the course of this interaction. Communication between the Russian and Bashkir nations has a long and rich history. It began in the middle of the 16 th century after Bashkiria''s voluntary entry into the Russian state. The Russian language has had an enormous influence on the development of the Bashkir language. Thus, the Russian language promoted the increase of social functions of the modern Bashkir literary language and enabled it to rise to the level of the state language.
