Abstract

In article questions of the organization of competitive activity in the оlympic cycle of preparation of elite kayak rowers are considered. It is noted that nowadays, training intensification in elite sports can be most effectively achieved through optimization of competition activity. At the some time, most specialists are mostly interested in planning and control of training process. Parameters of competition practice generally considered less thoroughly. The structure of competition activity during preparation to two оlympic cycles (Athens-2004 and Beijing-2008) has been analyzed. In period considered, performance dynamics in leading international level competitions during first and second оlympic macrocycles and number of in-competition days remains approximately constant. However, starts number in different disciplines in second macrocycle is increasing. So, to optimize competition activity, individual starts number in year cycle for each athlete must be in compliance with mean statistical data. In series of international competitions, athlete not required to win everywhere, but these starts can be considered as control means for preparation for most significant competition of season and оlympic cycle.
