Abstract

In the article the analysis of a few cases of disloyal behavior among the nobility in the Orenburg province during the Nikolaev epoch are described. The denunciation of a bourgeois A. Starikov on a titular counselor S. S. Kolokoltsov enabled its beginning. The author of the article thoroughly investigated liberal public moods of the Orenburg intelligentsia after liquidating its secret society. He paid special attention to the fact that simple people had mostly conservative views after the events. That circumstance created favourable atmosphere for different provocative situations, the victim of which became an Ufa official.
