Abstract

The methodology of alive theatre, beginning from K.S. Stanislavsky, needs it’s constant generation and development. The practice of Lev Dodin gives us the successful example of such regeneration and development. One of the principle discoveries of Lev Dodin is his rehearsal’s method of role-linings-analogies. This method may be considered the contemporary methodological incarnation of one of the main principles of Stanislavsky’s system – the principle «I am within suggested circumstances». The present article is devoted to this method. The article is based on the books, published in the recent time by Lev Dodin, as well as in the recordings of rehearsals by Lev Dodin, which the author of the article was keeping since 1997, regularly visiting the rehearsals at the Saint-Petersburg State Academic Maly Drama Theatre – Theatre of Europe.
